The South African actress, producer, writer and model Donnalee Roberts is well known for her work in the acclaimed box-office hits Pad na jou Hart, Ballade vir ’n Enkeling and Vir Altyd.
Donnalee and Ivan Botha joined forces for the first time in 2014 and co-wrote, co-produced and marketed Pad na jou Hart, which won Film of the Year at the 2014 Tempo Awards. Donnalee also received the award for Actress of the Year at these awards for her portrayal of Amory. She was also nominated for a SAFTA as Actress of the Year for the same role as Amory. In the following year, Pad na jou Hart was crowned as Film of the Year by the Natal Film Commission’s Simon Sabela Awards.
In 2015 Donnalee played the lead role of Carina Human in the film adaptation of the iconic television series with the same title, Ballade vir ’n Enkeling. Donnalee received the 2015 Tempo Award as Actress of the Year for her role in this film.
Together with Ivan, Donnalee co-wrote, co-produced and marketed Vir Altyd. Donnalee won the 2016 Tempo Award for Actress of the Year, the third time in a row, for her leading role as Nina in this film.
Donnalee is the co-owner of the production company 17 FILMS that specializes in the development, production and marketing of quality, value-based films. 17 FILMS was also responsible for the marketing of the successful film, Ballade vir ’n Enkeling.
In 2018 Donnalee plays the lead role in the new adventure film, Stroomop, releasing in August this year. Behind the scenes, she is the co-developer, co-writer and co-producer of this film.
Other acting credits include her role as Cybil Ferreira in Klein Karoo, Annelie in the TV soap 7de Laan and Fransie in the theatre piece BEURTKRAG that played at Aardklop, KKNK, Woordfees and INNIBOS.
Donnalee obtained her national degree in BA Drama from the University of Pretoria and after that she completed a two-year course at PALI (Performing Arts and Lifestyle Institute).
In 2012, Donnalee studied at the well-known New York Film Academy where she received a diploma in ACTING FOR FILM.
