For the first five years of her career, Chanelle worked as a full-time actress for Franz Marx Films. While on a working holiday in the UK in 2004, she worked on short films and developed a strong interest in the process behind the cameras.
She returned to South Africa and studied Film and Television, taking production, editing, writing and directing as subjects and achieving 19 distinctions in her first year.
In her second year she was offered a position as an assistant- and video editor for a wildlife cinematographer and she accepted. She travelled extensively through Namibia and made documentaries that captured the essence of lodges. For this position, she had to move to Cape Town.
At the beginning of 2011, she joined an acting agency, Emma Ress Management, and since then she’s been working full time in advertisements, films, theatre and international television series. Since May 2013, she’s worked as a freelance casting director for KAYOS Casting and Scout’s Honour Casting Directors.
In October 2015, Chanelle started working as a casting director. She’s also the co-founder of The Actor’s Toolbox that mentors young actors on how to survive the industry.
